I’m sitting here with my laptop and a cup of coffee…yep I’m addicted. Decaf only though so it doesn’t really do me much good (smile)….not allowed to have caffeine. I’m an 80’s girl. No I don’t have big hair, but I love the music and the movies and I guess it just plain old reminds me of growing up and having fun. I’m a Jesus follower, straight LGBTQ+ affirming ally, with a gay son. I’ve been married to my hubby Mike for 30 years. We met during senior week in Ocean City, MD when he squirted me with a water gun. We’ve been together ever since.
I also have four furry children. They are all crazy in their own special way. They keep me smiling and make any bad day better.
So why am I blogging? I had a strong prompting from God to start one. At the time, I wasn’t even sure what you do with a blog. This is about my journey…one that was unexpected, but has brought me many blessings. My hope is that my words will speak to anyone out there who find themselves on a similar journey. I don’t have all of the answers and I’m learning as I go along. I am not trying to speak for the LGBTQ+ community. I’m just trying to share what I’ve learned and hope to give you food for thought.
I am a founding member and treasurer of PFLAG in Bel Air, Maryland, admin to a private FB group of moms of LGBTQ+ kids in the MD/DC/VA area, and the chapter leader for Free Mom Hugs – Maryland.
If you feel alone on your journey, contact me…I’d love to make a new friend.
1 John 4:7-8 (The Message)
My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love—so you can’t know Him if you don’t love.
